Keller Travels: News from the Gulf

It's been awhile since my last post as we have had difficulty connecting to the internet at the campground. We are continuing to enjoy the area and find new things to keep us busy. The park is pretty empty again as people are heading home for the holidays.  It is hard to believe come January, there will be over 500 trailers here! Of course we will miss that as we leave to drive home on Jan. 1st.

Our friends, Jed & Sarah, from Kankakee, IL spend five days here last week. It was good to see familiar faces. The weather was beautiful. We hiked and bicycled at the park, went birding, enjoyed the beach, and made a trip to the Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola. The air museum is so very interesting and educational.  We would encourage you to visit it if you are in the area.

Many Christmas events are scheduled in this area and we saw the Lighted Boat Parade.  About 40 boats all decorated with colored lights, some with dancing Santa's, and some playing music made their way down the canal.   We were surprised how fast the boats were traveling.

Last night I was invited to go to a Christmas Concert at a nearby church. The music was outstanding. Phil & I had bought some Christmas cookies at another church. So between the music, cookies, and a few decorations in the RV we are getting in the holiday spirit. It will be strange to be here by ourselves. Mark has not always been home at Christmas but it will be our first Christmas away from Chris!
