We were up early to catch the 7am trolley to take us to the train depot. After a quick ride we arrived at the depot, greeted by a very nice volunteer, and then we boarded the train for the 3 1/2 hr ride.
It was a little cool when we started, but we soon shed our jackets as the sun was flooding our side of the
train car. The views were varied and so beautiful as the train traveled through several small towns,
flat lands, and then canyons during the long climb up the mountain. These pictures are in random order.
The ride back was rather long but it was good to see the views again as the sun was shining in the west. The sky had more clouds than in the morning and there was a time when it was raining on only one side of the train. It was a good day but we were tired when we finally reached the campsite, almost 12 hours later.
The best news of the day was when we talked with Mark and finalized our plans to see him tomorrow. Kind of a long story, but he will be in Grand Junction, 3 hours from here. So once again we will be up early and drive 3 hours just to hang out with him for a couple of hours. Then back to Durango the same day. We've been told the drive will be spectacular as we drive over 3 mountain passes.
We are so excited to see Mark, last time was in January. We really need to start hiking but other things have taken priority.
Marsha
