Day 8: Visit with Mark

Mark and his mandolin

Today was a great day as we were wiith Mark for 3 hours.  We met in Grand Junction, CO.  He looks great and is really enjoying his life on the farm.  Making new friends, learning green alternatives, eating healthy, and living in the country!  He has been playing the mandolin for several months and we sat under a shade tree while he played a few songs.  I think he is pretty good.  He says it is really a tough instrument to learn.  He is taking lessons online.  Interesting concept where he receives a lesson, videotapes himself, and emails the tape to the instructor who then gives feedback.  He is also able to view other students vidoes so he can learn from them too.  Saves money on lessons,  no driving involved, and can play at his convenience.  Pretty sweet!!

It was a three hour drive to see Mark and we drove through three mountain passes.  More beautiful country and big blue sky.  A glimpse of what we saw.

Silverton, CO nestled in the valley of the mountains.

Tomorrow we drive to Meas Verde. We will be camped at at national park which usually means no internet connection. So I'll catch up on some reading and get to bed early

Until the next time....
Marsha
