There comes a day to head home!

Mark is happy and that is a good feeling we have as Phil and I head home today.   It has been a very rewarding two weeks with Mark.  Our boy is all grown up and willingly accepts the challenges of adulthood as a property owner and in his relationship with Heidi and her daughters.  Saying good-bye is so difficult but knowing he is happy and that we will see them in the spring makes it just a little easier.

We leave knowing we accomplished our mission in helping him as he continues to clear his land and make plans for the future.  We left everyday dirty, tired, and feeling good about the progress we made.


 

This shows only one area with the thinned trees, blackberry bushes gone, and ground raked. 
 

Mark is smoothing and breaking up dirt clumps in this area that will get planted in grass.

 

One project was to bring out the tractor and trim the lower branches from the pine trees. Mark stood in the bucket as Phil positioned him under the trees. I should have taken a picture of the tree trimming but I was just hoping Mark wasn't going to fall out of the bucket. 

 

This gives a good view of how clean and trimmed everything looks.  This fall the brush piles will get burned.  Next year we will have to remove the blackberry bushes along the pond. 

Mark decided to have a potluck BBQ at his house Saturday evening so cleaning inside and outside the cabin was the final task.  Wouldn't you know I ended up washing dishes, pots, and pans that were sitting in bins outside.  Everything had been previously washed just dusty with traces of pine needles.

Counting children 25 people came to met us.  Delicious food made from produce from their gardens.  It was so nice to get to know Mark's friends. We feel he is very fortunate and the knowledge and talent shared by these men and women will be very helpful over the years.   For two years ago we have heard about Dale and Rosie.  Mark lived and works on their farm.

We are looking forward to seeing Chris and his newly painted house, eating some veggies from his garden, and seeing how the flowers and plants survived over the summer.
